Nan's Story

Heritage in Every Bottle

Born in 1928, Nan grew up on the Connecticut shoreline, where the salty sea air and small town charm forged her lifelong coastal spirit. A child of the Great Depression, Nan learned the fundamentals of resourceful cooking from her mother, who showed her how to create exciting meals from what grew in their garden. Eventually, Nan would hone her skills to recreate dishes from her travels around the world.

It didn’t take long for Nan to become known for her salad dressings. She’d often bring whole bottles to dinner parties and “forget” to take them home, ensuring the dressing could be enjoyed long after she had gone. As her family grew, Nan’s kitchen became a gathering place for loved ones from near and far. Generations have sat at her table to enjoy her company while she cooked garden-fresh dishes and perfected her array of homemade dressings and marinades. While many asked, Nan never shared her recipes—though she’d happily send them home with a bottle or two.

Today, Nan’s Original Recipes captures the essence of our beloved mother and grandmother: Good, wholesome food that inspires an enriched healthy life. Lovingly made in small batches with premium organic ingredients, her creations are versatile and shelf-stable, ready to accompany you on seaside picnics, celebrate time with family, or simply spice up a weekday meal. In every spoonful, you can still taste Nan’s generous heart and true zest for life, reminding us all that a little goes a long way.
